Cheer on your favourite K9 Athletes from Australia, Britain, Canada and New Zealand in the inaugural Common Woof Games!

2018 is a big year for sporting fans around the world, and the Dog Lovers Show doesn’t believe sport needs to be limited to two legged athletes! Taking the opportunity to showcase Dog sports like never before, the inaugural ‘Common Woof Games’ tested the most elite K9 athletes across all three days of the event.

Dog Sport is a spectacle like no other, and the Dog Lovers Show 2018 was proud to present a comprehensive competition program comprising of 11 popular fusion sports categorised into Ball-Sports, Track & Field, and Aquatic sectors.

The Royal Canin Arena hosted a wide array of Common Woof Games events with a jam-packed program which included the opening ceremony extravaganzahalf-time entertainment by The Wonderdogs, a swag of competitions, of course, some emotional medal presentations to crown the woofing-winners.

Presented by Farmer Dave Graham, along with special appearances by Dr. Harry Cooper, this was an event you didn’t want to miss!

With everything from Hurdles to Barrel Racing, Basketball to Socca and even Discus Throw– some of Australia’s most talented K9s trained for this big event, and WOWed the packed crowds with their agility, skill, and sporting prowess!

The outdoor forecourt played host to the aquatic section of the Common Woof Games where the Black Hawk DockDogs Pool presented a program of breathtaking water sports including the Big Air® and Duelling Dogs competitions.  The program featured Big Air ®(Long Jump), Duelling Dogs (high energy speed retrieval), Rapid Relay, Speed Retrieve®, and Extreme Vertical® (high jump for dogs).

Last but not least, a new zone located upstairs on the Gallery Level paid tribute to the world of Dog sports in the form of the Dog Sports Showcase. In this all-new attraction, visitors learnt about a range of different Dog sports, where to experience them and how to get their own Dog involved in these activities across Victoria.

It was all about the wonderful benefits that sport provides our Dogs and the important role it plays in helping build stronger bonds between us and our best friends.
